Hana matoi is probably the most exciting new Japanese Maple ever to hit the American market. The pink variegation is phenomenol. The variegation holds up well even in our hot climate and so far, it does not seem to revert like some of the other variegated varieties. The spring foliage emerges purple with cream and pink variegation. As the temperatures rise heading into summer the base color changes from purple to green but the wonderful pink and cream variegation remain all summer.
